Meet Our Teachers & Staff

It has been said that “Education is a shared commitment between dedicated teachers, motivated students, and enthusiastic parents with high expectations,” (Bob Beauprez). We at Queen Creek Elementary believe this wholeheartedly. Our teachers and staff work with students and their parents every day to bring about each student’s highest potential in the classroom, on the playground, and at home. They expect excellence in their academic performance as well as in their character traits. What a team! Please meet them:

“Be somebody who makes everybody feel like a somebody."

About Me

My family and I moved to the Queen Creek area 28 years ago and have raised our children here since. I am a wife, a mother and stepmother to eight children, with two bookend girls and six boys in between, and I am a grandmother of seven grandchildren and one more on the way. I enjoy gardening, scrapbooking, outdoor activities, and spending time with my family. Being a grandparent is truly one of the best parts of life.

Educational/Professional Background

I have been with Queen Creek Unified School District for 20 years now. I started with the district as a substitute coordinator. I have had opportunities to work at most of the sites in our district until going to the middle school eight years ago to be Mrs. Niven’s secretary. In 2014, I came to QCE with Mrs. Niven and have truly enjoyed being here. What a blessing it is to work with our elementary children and our great staff.

Educational and School Counseling Philosophy

Although I am not a teacher by profession, I believe that we all, as parents, aunts, uncles, family, and community members, play an important role in helping children grow and become successful. Children need positive role models, encouragement, and boundaries that allow them to grow. We all have to learn at our own pace, and while learning, we will always make mistakes before we get it just right. By encouraging students to be their very best, put the mistakes behind them, and start off each day with a positive attitude, they will grow. Through life experience, I have learned that life is just way too short to sweat the small stuff!

“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” -William Butler Yeats

About Me

Ms. Mariani, her husband, and son named Zachary, moved to AZ from IL in 2015. She loves health, fitness, country dancing, and spending time with family and friends.

Educational/Professional Background

Ms. Mariani is starting her first full year as attendee clerk/registrar at Queen Creek Elementary. Prior to joining the front staff, Ms. Mariani’s educational experience includes working here at QCE as a teacher’s aide in the preschool room, three years assisting at a Christian Children Center, along with two years running her own in-home day care.  Her 20 years of experience as an administrative assistant will help her handle the critical operations of the registrar’s office.

Educational and School Counseling Philosophy

Each child is unique and I do my best to nurture the intrinsic gifts that each one brings and shares with me. I also believe that what truly makes a difference in a child’s life, beneath all the methods, materials, and the curriculum, is a teacher who cares about each child and who teaches from the heart. Children will learn if challenged and stimulated, especially in the right environment.

“If you think my hands are full, you should see my heart.”

About Me

I was born in South Bend, Indiana, but moved to Arizona when I was four, so I feel like an Arizona native. I’m the lucky mother of three daughters. I love being outside, hiking, walking, traveling, shopping, and being crafty. I enjoy watching college football (Go Irish!), spending time with friends, and especially spending time with my girls.

Educational/Professional Background

I’m going into my tenth year of teaching. My first year of teaching I taught fourth grade, and then I moved to third grade for five years. During this time I completed my master’s degree along with my reading endorsement through NAU. While my family was expanding I left teaching for 4 years and returned for one year to teach part-time at a local preschool before moving on to Queen Creek Elementary. This year is my second year at QCE preschool, and I have loved every minute.

Educational and School Counseling Philosophy

I believe in the true love of learning and that it is a life long journey. I’m excited that I have the opportunity to contribute to a student’s joy of learning in the beginning of their educational career. I believe it is the job of a preschool teacher to teach students about life skills needed to help them grow and prepare them for kindergarten and beyond. Preschool is important as it teaches valuable skills such as sharing, interaction with others, and cognitive growth. Every child can learn, and it is the job of the teacher to help find the best tools with which to help them be successful. I try to create a classroom that is nurturing but also structured, as there needs to be rules and expectations so that students can rise to the challenge of learning. I love being a teacher because of the change and challenges each day brings. Kids are a joy to work with, they are excited and interested and eager to learn, and I am grateful for the opportunity to help foster that.

About Me

Miss Amy is originally from the great state of Washington and has lived in Arizona since 1998.

Educational/Professional Background

Miss Amy graduated from Washington State University in 1995 with a bachelor of arts in elementary and special education. She received a master of education degree in 1998 from Heritage College.

Miss Amy began teaching special education in 1995 in Sunnyside, Washington, then moved to Arizona in 1998 where she worked in the Tempe Elementary School District as an elementary resource teacher. After getting married and moving to the Ahwatukee area, Miss Amy became employed in the Kyrene School District as a resource teacher. Miss Amy has been teaching preschool in the Queen Creek Unified School District since 2006.

Educational and School Counseling Philosophy

Miss Amy believes that in order to prepare children for kindergarten and beyond, they must have opportunities and experiences in five major areas of early childhood development:  gross/fine motor, cognitive, language, social/emotional, and adaptive. Preschool children must be allowed and encouraged to move their bodies, use their five senses, and practice communicating with teachers and other students in order to take in all of the new information that is so exciting and educational to them in their young lives.

About Me

Mrs. Schrieber is originally from New Jersey but has been in Arizona for the past 26 years. She has a wonderful husband, Steve, and twelve year old twin daughters, Alexis and Amanda. She loves teaching kindergarten, running, traveling, and reading. She especially loves the beach and the ocean. It is her happy place, and she loves to spend time there with her family!

Educational/Professional Background

Mrs. Schrieber graduated from ASU with a degree in elementary education and has an early childhood endorsement as well as SEI and gifted provisional endorsement. She has twenty years teaching experience from pre-kindergarten all the way to fourth grade. She absolutely loves teaching kindergarten and has been teaching it for the past three years.

Educational and School Counseling Philosophy

I believe learning should be interesting and fun. In my classroom I provide my kindergarten students with a warm, loving, and caring environment where they feel confident and are able to explore and grown academically, socially, and emotionally each and every day. I believe every child can learn, and my goal is to make each child feel as special as he or she is. I want my students to be successful, to have a positive self-esteem, as well as to have a love of learning. My motto is you may have not learned it yet, but you will.

Educational/Professional Background

I attended the University of Wisconsin and University of Northern Colorado. I have been teaching for 13 years, almost all in kindergarten

Educational and School Counseling Philosophy

I feel that it is important to get to know each student in order to help them learn. Every child has a different background and family life, which affects their learning style. Classroom management is also a key component to ensure the best environment for learning to take place. About Me

Welcome to first grade! It is so exciting to be back here at Queen Creek Elementary. It is a true homecoming for me this year. I am from Queen Creek where I attended Queen Creek Elementary and graduated from Queen Creek High School. I am grateful for the opportunity to come back and teach the community I know and love. I have one son, Easton, who is four years old and always keeps me on my toes. I have a husband, Eric, who is a firefighter/paramedic for Tucson. When I am not having fun and teaching first grade, I love to play softball and coach. I am always wrapped in a book or out on an outdoor adventure with my family.

Educational/Professional Background

My experience includes teaching first and third grade. I spent three years as a paraprofessional in the special education department at Gilbert Public Schools. I completed my student teaching in first grade and had a long-term position teaching first grade at Gilbert. I graduated from Northern Arizona University in December of 2012 with a bachelor of science in elementary education. During the 2013-2014 school year, I taught third grade at Anthem K-8 and taught first grade there the following year. I am thrilled and excited to be teaching first grade this year.

Educational and School Counseling Philosophy

I believe in a positive approach to teaching. I love to “catch someone being good or doing their best!” I believe that communication is the key to becoming successful partners in your child’s education. My goal is to build self-esteem, teach according to your child’s needs, and encourage your child to want to be the best that he or she can be. A very important expectation for our classroom will be, “Do your best at all times and build the confidence to figure problems out.” I believe in a classroom family environment to help students feel safe and ask for assistance from their peers. I am very anxious to get to know each of your children.

In 2015 I decided it was time to get back into the classroom and began teaching 4th grade for QCES and have been loving it ever since! Go, Eagles!

Educational and School Counseling Philosophy

In my classroom, I foster the idea that students should start thinking for themselves. I believe that real learning comes when the student starts to explore, and comes up with real ideas that are shared with others. “You get what you get, and you don’t throw a fit!”

About Me

I am a mother of five, one boy and four girls. I am a grandmother of two and hoping for more in the future. I’ve lived in Queen Creek for 16 years. I am an Arizona native from Mesa. I am a proud mother of a Navy corpsman deployed with the Fleet Marines, who gave the ultimate sacrifice serving our country. I am thankful every day for brave men and women who are willing to serve our country.

I love to travel and take long drives to see the country(old lady vacations). I love animals. I use to have horses, pigs, goats, cows, chickens, and ducks until I moved from my tiny farm. Now I have two wiener dogs.

Educational/Professional Background

I have been a preschool aide at QCE since 2012, and I love it! Before that I worked in rehabilitation/habilitation working with children with special needs. My most rewarding job was being a stay at home mom while my children were young.

About Me

I grew up in North Dakota and have been living in Arizona since 1997. My husband Mark also works for QCUSD.  I love to do jigsaw puzzles, and I am an avid hockey fan.

Educational/Professional Background

This is my 20th year as a speech language pathologist, and my 18th year in QCUSD. I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota and my master’s degree from St. Cloud State University.

Educational and School Counseling Philosophy

All students develop a mode of communication, whether it be verbal, or non-verbal, such as signing or using  assistive technology. The ability to communicate is essential to every child’s ability to learn, socialize with others, and to fulfill their potential.

Music

“Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent.” –Victor Hugo

About Me

Mrs. Friesen has one husband, two children, two cats, and a snake named Spot. She loves camping, binge watching Netflix, and singing anywhere and everywhere, including waiting in line at the grocery store or pumping gas.

Educational/Professional Background

Mrs. Friesen is finishing her first year of teaching. She received her degree in music education from Northern Arizona University in 1996. She sings with The Phoenix Symphony Chorus in many venues throughout the Valley.

Educational and School Counseling Philosophy

Musicians must be imaginative, disciplined, dedicated, and brave. I strongly believe that all children are capable of making and appreciating great music. As a teacher it is my job not only to provide the tools for making music, but also to feed the flame of bravery needed to put oneself out there and shine.

About Me

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to our ELP class. My family and I moved to Queen Creek seventeen years ago. I have been teaching here in Queen Creek for the past sixteen years. My wife, Darla, is also an elementary school teacher and will be the data and math specialist here at QCE this year. We have three children: Adam 17, Brielle 15, and Elyas 11. Adam and Brielle are at QCHS, and Eli is at Newell Barney. My hobbies include fishing, cooking, and woodworking.

Educational/Professional Background

After completing my BA in elementary education from ASU and then Ottawa University. I pursued my master’s degree from NAU in elementary education. I graduated in 2004 and then began my coursework in gifted education at ASU. Finally, after many grueling years, I finished my doctorate in leadership and teacher training at Grand Canyon University in 2013.

Educational and School Counseling Philosophy

I am a firm believer in a pragmatic approach to education. The process of how to learn can be just as important as what to learn. Students need the opportunity to feel safe in attempting new challenges. I believe that it is not failure until one quits. “I haven’t failed.  I just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” - Thomas Edison.

About Me

I received an athletic soccer scholarship in college, and I am a Sun Devil at heart. I love playing sports, hiking, working out, drawing, painting, and making and selling things. I have a passion for classic cars and own a ’70 Chevelle. When I am not at work, you can find me playing with my nephew, hanging out with my family and friends, working out, or attending all the Arizona Cardinals games! Go big Red!

Educational/Professional Background

Educational and School Counseling Philosophy

I absolutely love teaching and coaching! My classroom is a fun, yet structured, learning environment. I am a firm believer in respect, teamwork, and hard work. I hope to teach my students the importance of a healthy lifestyle through developmental sports and health education. I hope to instill in my students the importance of being physically active in a manner that will increase their physical competence, self?esteem, and an enjoyment of many physical activities. The physical education curriculum will include a balance of individual skills, health concepts, and game activities. These activities are designed to enhance the cognitive, motor, and physical fitness development of every student. As a physical educator, I want to take on the challenge of motivating my students to develop a healthy lifestyle and to demonstrate to them how much fun physical activity can be both individually or shared with their peers.

“Winners never quit, and quitters never win.”

About Me

Mr. Kirchoff is a husband to his beautiful wife Sarah, and father to his four wonderful children; Joshua, Catherine, Jacob and Michael. He likes to spend time with his family, doing home improvement projects, working on his classic car, NASCAR, dirt track racing, and quarter midget car racing with his son, Jacob.

Educational/Professional Background

Mr. Kirchoff is currently in his 17th year of teaching. Previously, he has taught in the Chandler and Florence Unified School Districts. He received his master’s degree and his bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University.

Educational and School Counseling Philosophy

Participating in an instrumental music class like band or orchestra is one of the most challenging, yet rewarding things a student can do. By giving students the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument, we expose them to different sounds and types of music, how to understand their personal roles while working with others, foster self discipline, and most importantly to help them learn the importance of perseverance!
